Maine :: Part 3

In case you missed them over the last couple of weeks, the younger WeThree's shared Maine vacation photos here (Dani) and here (Carrie).  Our week in Bar Harbor was everything I was hoping it would be:  full of sunshine, relaxing on the porch, lobster eating, shopping, hiking, exploring, reading, family time, more hiking, ice cream, sunset/sunrise watching, and more lobster.  On the way up, we also fulfilled another one of my summer goals by stopping in Portland.  Although I've been to several different parts of Maine, Portland was an as-yet unexplored city for me.  We stopped at the local yarn shop, Knit Wit, and at More & Co. to do some shopping, and then ate ridiculously good fish tacos at Silly's before heading on up to Bar Harbor.  Definitely a fun stop and a great little city to explore.  Here are some other photos from our adventures, if you'd like to see.

Maine state line - after 13 hours in the car and with five more to go to get to Bar Harbor.  Sheesh.

Building rock cairns at Bar Island.

 Ladder-happy hiking at Beech Mountain.

Dancing to music in the park on a beautiful night.

Matching cousins heading out on the town for cupcakes and smoothies.

Sunset and moon rise from Cadillac Mountain.

 Happy girls on Cadillac.

Perfecting the family photo since 2013.

 Happy kids exploring the mountain.

We found some great books by local authors at Maine's Oldest Bookstore.

I love this photo of these three!

 Checking out the lobsters.

 Four generations <3

Tommy and his whoopie pie (!!) sundae.

Wild blueberries growing on the side of the trail up to Cadillac Mountain.

The kids were troopers as we hiked 4.6 miles round trip up the steep and rocky north side of Cadillac Mountain (after driving up a few times before).
 Tommy crushing the mountain.

My boy loves to be cold and spent a solid 30 minutes in the freezing ocean at Sand Beach.

This view right here is exactly Maine to me.  So beautiful.

 Sunset at Thunder Hole.

 "I see the moon..."

Early morning sunrise from Cadillac Mountain.

 Lobstah!

Love to see moose crossing signs.  Just wish we would have actually seen a moose!

We had a fantastic time in Bar Harbor and are looking forward to returning someday soon.  Hope you're having a great week!  See you back here tomorrow for Photo Friday!
